‘We want to help the needy’

The From a Girl to a Woman Organisation is one of the organisations that were formed to help the needy youth of Kwatsaduza.

The organisation was formed last year with the aim to help provide sanitary towels to the needy girls who are still in high school.

After realising that it is not only these girls who need help to ensure that they go to school, the organisation is now also focusing on donating shoes to the primary school learners who come from the disadvantaged families.

According to the organisation’s founder, Nomvuyo Sebeko, the organisation also gives career guidance to the learners.

“We want to ensure that children go to school and understand the careers that they want to take,” said Sebeko.

She explained that despite the hard work that they put into helping shape the future of the young people in Kwatsaduza, they still struggle to find a place to work.

Sebeko said they have knocked on many doors seeking their own space to do their work effectively, but no one seems willing to help them.

“We need a place where our beneficiaries will meet and the members of the organisation be able to hold their meetings,” said a sad Sebeko.

One of the members of the organisation, Zodwa Njadu (64) said she joined the organisation to play a parent’s role to the orphans.

She said she understands the struggles faced by the children who have to look after their siblings after the death of their parents.

“It is the organisation’s dream to ensure that no child feels neglected and makes his poor background an excuse to drop out from school,” she said.

Njadu encouraged young people to value education as she believes that it is the key that will open their doors of happiness and wealth.

Anyone who is willing to donate school shoes and sanitary towels to the organisation to give to the needy or offer any kind of assistance to change the lives of the needy learners in Kwatsaduza, should contact Nomvuyo Sebeko on 073 647 4613.
