Suspect’s possible link to other robberies

Community members arrested an alleged business robber.

Members of the Bakerton communty arrested a suspect at 6pm, on Wednesday (February 18).

It is believed he was about to rob a business when the community chased him.

Spokesman for the Springs police, Capt Johannes Ramphora, says the suspect tried to run away, but ran into a security guard.

When the suspect pulled out a gun and pointed it at the guard the community grabbed him.

Ramphora says the police received a phone call about the citizens’ arrest.

When the police arrived on the scene they found an angry mob with the suspect.

He was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The bag found on the man was allegedly used to carry stolen goods.

“The detectives is investigating to see if the suspect can be linked to other business robberies that recently took place in the area,” says Ramphora.

The man was taken to the Springs cells.

He will appear in court soon.
