Youth organisation helps unemployed youth in Duduza

The four-year-old Nigel Youth Development Foundation's aim is to provide young people of Duduza with skills that will enable them to find employment.

The youth organisation in Duduza was formed in 2011 with the aim of helping the youth with necessary skills that will help them get jobs in the future.

The foundation operates at the Iphahamiseng Primary School’s premises in Duduza.

According to one of the foundation’s founders, Tebogo Maselesele the foundation is focusing on helping the youth between the ages of 18 and 35 years old.

He says they are helping the youth by teaching them different skills including information technology and life coaching skills.

“After we saw that many youth in Duduza are unemployed due to the lack of skills, we started the foundation to help them build their future,” says Maselesele.

He continues to say that the foundation also helps learners from Grade One to 12 with their school work during the Saturday classes that the foundation introduced.

Theo Ngubane who is also one of the founders adds that the foundation is also working with the Grade 12 learners who are currently preparing to write the supplementary exams.

“With the help of the local graduates, the learners are motivated to write their exams,” Ngubane says.

Speaking about the challenges that the foundation is facing, Ngubane says they are struggling to find financial assistance that will push their foundation to the higher level.

“We need assistance to ensure that our dream of opening a local skills academy comes true,” she says.

She concluded by encouraging the unemployed youth in Duduza to seek for the skills that will help them pave their ways to a brighter future.
