Unrest in Tsakane

Residents of Fingo Street, Tsakane did not sleep on Friday night due to spinning taxis and the selling of alcohol illegally by a local resident.

According to resident Ratolo Modise, on Friday night he did not sleep due to the noise that was being made by his neighbours, who are more than 10 tenants in one RDP house.

Modise explains the owner of the house rented it out to a lot of tenants who are mostly foreign nationals as he no longer resides in the area.

He says one of the tenants owns a tuck shop and also sells alcohol illegally which attracts customers who create chaos in the area once they are intoxicated.

According to Modise it is alleged there are men who were stabbing each other on the streets in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Modise explains residents had enough and wrote a petition to the owner, they can no longer bear the pain of the noise pollution they experience at night due to his tenants’ businesses.

Resident Tsekiso Modise says his mother’s car was bumped by a taxi which was spinning in front of his house.

Modise explains he has made an arrangement with the taxi owner who was very shocked that his taxi was spinning at that time of night.

He says they have tried to contact the police when these incidents happen but they just check the house for alcohol and do not find it.

Captain Petros Mabuza says if residents have complaints they must contact the sector manager and if their sector manager does not do anything about the matter they can address the matter to the station commander.
