Pholosong Hospital raises awareness on deaseases

Pholosong Hospital, in partnership with non government organization New Age Roving (NAR), are currently hosting an STI and condom campaign in conjunction with pregnancy awareness week, which started on Monday.

According to communications officer from Pholosong Hospital, Sihle Mafambane, the awareness campaign began on Monday and will end on February 16.

Mafambane explains the main objective of the event is to ensure the community members are offered health information that will assist them.

He says BP screening, weight screening. glucose screening, TB screening and VCT (Pre counselling, testing and post counselling) will be done by NAR.

“After the screening, patients with positive results will be referred to their local clinics by the hospitals health care providers”, says Mafambane

Manager of New Age Roving, Nonkululeko Moagi says the aim of their organisation working with the hospital is to reduce infections, expand information, to encourage the community to do regular check ups, encourage people to condomise and get tested.

Nurse Nomvula Mlambo from Philane Clinic at Pholosong Hospital, says hopefully through the campaign both the staff and the community will be encouraged to test.

Mlambo explains the department outsourced an NGO because there would have been a lack of staff to just focus on the campaign only.

She encourages the community of Kwatsaduza to come and test and know their status.
