Shack replaces a collapsed RDP house

A temporary shack was built for resident Joana Selwane after heavy winds hit KwaThema on January 30, damaging her home.

According to Joana Selwane a shack was built by the red ants two days after the incident yet the shack was not big enough for her belongings.

Spokesperson of the metro Themba Gadebe says, the metro is committed to the well being of its citizenry, as a result the issue of the collapsed house in KwaThema is receiving urgent attention.

He says subsequent to the receipt of complaint an inspection on site was conducted, a temporary structure (shack) has been erected, within the yard, to be occupied by the family while arrangements are considered to repair the house.

Gadebe concludes the metro is in the process of confirming if the residents of the collapsed house are registered as indigents with the council.
