Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora says the owner of the car left his two friends inside the car when he went to buy a beer at tavern at around 2am on Sunday.
He says it was when the victim tried to start the car to leave from the parking lot after buying the beer when the two hijackers pointed a firearm at him and demanded to get inside the car.
“The driver managed to escape leaving his friends in the car which the hijackers drove away,” says Ramphora.
He says the car was later found at Nuffield.
The Springs police are investigating a case of hijacking and no arrests have been made.
