Lazaros brings home another trophy

Tsakane resident Lazaros 'Loverboy' Sumbane has added another trophy to his collection if winnings in hair styling competitions.

He received the Sofn’Free 2015 HairXperts Masters Challenge Viewers Choice Award on Sunday at the ceremony held at the market Theatre in Johannesburg.

This 22-year-old was the youngest hairstylist who entered this competition

How many entries there were for this competition is not sure, but the top 14 finalists were from different regions over the country.

He says the competition was tough but he was mentally prepared for the challenge.

The six months long competition soon ended with only a few finalists left in the challenge.

Although Lazaros was the viewers favourite in the competition he didn’t manage to complete the unprepared Afro natural styling on day six of the finals.

However, the competition didn’t end for him as the viewers still had a say and soon thereafter voted him back into the competition.

The viewers votes might not have crowned him as the overall winner of the competition, but he is quite happy with the Viewers Choice award.

When he was crowned the National Championship for the Employer’s Organisation for Hairdressing, Cosmetology and Beaut champion in 2014 he also took second place at the same competition.

He loves entering competitions and have been doing so since 2012.

“I will continue to do so as it sharpens my skills, I learn a lot and make new friends at the competitions,” he says.

He is grateful for Lehlohonolo Hlatshwaye for being his model during the competition.

This competition motivated him and he would like to thank the viewers from all over the country who believed in him and made this win possible.
