‘I want more education’
Despite her age, Ntombizodwa Vilakazi (50) is still eager for education.
When receiving her certificate last Thursday during a graduation ceremony held at the Pretoria College, Vilakazi saw her dream coming true.
Vilakazi is now not just a cleaner at the KwaThema police station, but is an NQF level 4 graduate.
After 26 years of working a cleaner at the station, it was her dream to get better education and a better job.
She said her achievement is a motivation to the youth who quit school because they are ashamed of their age and think that their age does not allow them to be still students.
“I proved that it is possible not to allow your age to prevent you from achieving your goals,” said excited Vilakazi.
She explained that during the year it was not easy to be a student and a worker at the same time.
Vilakazi said her focus on her studies is what made her get what she aimed for.
To further her education, Vilakazi will register at Unisa to study a degree in communication studies.
Ntombi Zuma who also works at the KwaThema police station graduated last Thursday after completing the NQF level 4.
Speaking on behalf of the KwaThema police station, commander Colonel Berry Mashaba congratulated Vilakazi.
He encouraged the other employees at the police department to use the studying opportunities provided by the department to its employees.
“Education is the key that opens the doors of success,” believes Mashaba.
