Youngsters build Garden Square

Three young people built a community park at Geluksdal, Extension Three, starting in May.

Builder Samkelo Buthelezi says the idea was to build a spot for the community to meet up and braai together and relax.

Buthelezi elaborates that the project began very slowly as they were challenges of people vandalizing the designs before the cement was dry.

He says because of the determination he had with his team members they did not give up.

Builder Thabiso Mbatha says he loves their new community park because it is large and their sculptures are unique.

Mbatha says they built the park artifacts with stones, cement, steel, wood, old cans and natural grass which grew around the area

He says the advantage of the park is it is infront of an Apollo light so it does not need electricity at night.

He adds they are struggling with water as water supply is too far away and this makes it difficult for them to raise funds to improve the park even further.

Third builder Thato Totsetsi says he wants to see the park recognized like Bolithando Park in KwaThema were hundreds of people gather to picnic.

Totsetsi pleads to any member of the public who can donate old garden furniture or anything to help improve the design even further of the park.
