Heavy winds blow RDP house down
Heavy winds have blown down a house in KwaThema, White City Section at approximately 8am this morning.
Resident of the RDP house Joana Selwane says she woke up this morning and went outside to drink water unaware that the wind was going to blow her house down.
Selwane says the whole side of the front part of the house has been blown down by the wind.
She explains that the house initially had a crack and she reported the matter to the municipality yet nothing was done.
According to Selwane she has nowhere to go because this was her only residence.
She says she is sad and devastated by this tragedy that has left her stranded.
Ward Councillor Ivy Nkosi says that she has reported the matter to the Department of Human Settlement and Housing who should be able to assist Selwane,
She says the department must at least provide the resident with temporary residence until her house can be re-built.
