Thandie Eleanor Sibeko Secondary School goes digital

Thandie Eleanor Sibeko Secondary School was one of the schools which received tablets.

Thandie Eleanor Sibeko Secondary School received tablets and digital boards on Wednesday.

Principal Mandla Moatloadi says the department has handed over 800 tablets with more to come.

He says the tablets are for learners in all grade. Moatlhoadi adds that they have been equipped with tracking devices so they can be recovered should they be lost or stolen.

Moatloadi says the tablets will improve the education of the learners because learners will be able to see the lesson plan on their portals if absent.

He says the learners will be allowed to record lessons so they will be able to refer back to their videos or audio recordings. However, they will not be able to access social media.

He says the learners are very excited to begin this new innovative way of learning.

Teacher Gloria Nxumalo says she is very thankful to the government for prioritising tablets within the classroom.

She hopes this improves the overall learning experience and help learners interact during lessons.

Nxumalo says this initiative will hopefully also increase the matric results of the school.

MEC of Finance Barbara Greecy participated in a workshop about how the new “Education in the Future” system works.

She highlighted how incorporating technology into education can improve the quality of education because it is faster and innovative.

She also highlighted the safety measures the school can take to ensure the tablets are safe.
