Parents volunteer to clean local school

The community of Langaville made it their responsibility to ensure that the school is ready for the re-opening today.

Like previous years, parents visited Menzi Primary School in Langaville to clean the school to ensure that it is ready for the new year.

They were there from Friday to clean the school’s yard and classrooms.

A few children were also helping their parents distribute stationery to all the classrooms to ensure that the process of teaching and learning can start early.

Ward Councillor Mthumeleni Nditha, who was also part of the parents who cleaned the school, commented that the education of the children is also the parents’ responsibility.

“We want our children to find their school in a friendly environment for them to start learning,” said Nditha.

One of the parents, Nomthandazo Kunene, said she left her daily chores to clean the school.

She said cleaning the school is also to teach children about teaching their children.

“Parents need to teach their children at a young age about the importance of cleanliness,” she said.

SGB member Freddy Malongwe thanked the parents for taking their time to clean the school.

He said a good relationship between the parents, teachers and learners is what is needed to shape the future of the learners.

Malongwe then encouraged learners at the school to work hard, respect and listen to their teachers.
