Illegal dumping sites remain a problem in Kwatsaduza

There are illegal dumping sites in a lot of areas in Kwatsaduza.

The dumping sites are harmful to the environment and make the nearby neighbourhoods smell bad.

Ward Councillor Ivy Nkosi says the matter was reported to the department of waste during a meeting a few months ago.

Nkosi says the department met up with councillors of Kwatsaduza to identify the areas which needed cleaning.

“The department only cleaned some of the areas, not all of them, and the illegal dumping site in Deep Level was one of the areas which was not attended to”, says Nkosi

She says the area also has a sewage problem and grass as long as three meters which has not been cut.

She urges people to stop dumping litter and use the 240 litre bins that have been provided by the municipality.
