KwaThema Schools

Tlakula High School
The school’s pass rate has decreased from their previous 82% to 76.4%.
It achieved a total of 46 bachelors, 70 diplomas and 17 distinctions.
Of their 179 matriculants, 43 students did not pass the exam.
Deputy principal Cheryl Nkosi said the school is proud of their students regardless of the decrease in their pass rate.
Laban Mothlabi Comprehensive School
They saw a 10% decrease in their pass rate this year.
The school achieved 79.20 % compared to 2014’s pass rate of 89.79%.
However, the school received 31 bachelors, 37 diplomas, 12 higher certificates and nine overall distinctions.
Only 21 students failed the exam.
Principal Orlando Mpatlanyane commented that the 10% decrease is a large number and promised to rectify this next time.
Nkumbulo Comprehensive School
Their pass rate dropped from 65% to 61,5%. Nkumbulo achieved the lowest pass rate percentage in KwaThema this year.
The school got 33 bachelors, 65 diplomas and 25 national higher certificates.
Principal Hendry Nankumba says his school will achieve more with the next examinations.
Lifa-Ifa High School
They are one of the schools that saw an increase in their pass rate this year.
The school scored 74% compared to previous year’s 70%.
It achieved 24 bachelors, 36 diplomas, 14 National Higher Certificates and a total of 15 distinctions.
Principal Mbuyiseli Nxumalo commented that he is very happy about the results.
“Our target for the 2015 matric results is 90%,” he said.
Nxumalo said they will start early with Saturday classes in order to achieve their target.
Phulong Secondary School
This school experienced the largest decrease in its pass rate.
The school dropped from a 91.8% pass rate to 78.46%.
However, the school got 19 distinctions, 33 bachelors, 46 diploma and 23 National Higher Certificates.
Principal Jabulani Nyoni expressed his disappointment about this year’s results, however he applauded the hard work of the teachers and the students that went into the year.
“The percentage is lower than last year’s and we promise to pull our socks up again and maintain our over 90%,” said Nyoni.
Zimisele Secondary School
Known for the best matric results in KwaThema, they scored the highest percentage with a pass rate of 86.17%.
They achieved 42 bachelors, 49 diplomas, 15 National Higher Certificates and 28 distinctions.
Only 17 students did not pass while the one student’s results are incomplete.
“I am happy about my students’ achievements,” said principal Dempsey Noge.
He thanked the support from the parents and the dedication shown by the teachers and students.
Kenneth Masekela Secondary School
The school experienced a decline from 90.3% to 83.24%.
They received 41 bachelors, 88 diplomas, 25 National Higher Certificates and 29 overall distinctions.

Tsakane Secondary School

The school obtained a 93.3% pass rate. Only 11 students failed.

Tholulwazi Secondary School
Of the 112 students who wrote the exam, 89 passed and the school obtained a 79.5% pass rate.

JE Malepe Secondary School
The school got an 80% pass rate, a 6% decline compared to last year’s 86% pass rate.
They received 72 bachelors, 90 diplomas, 25 National Higher Certificates and 33 distinctions.
Of the total of 234 matriculants, 47 students did not pass.
Principal Walter Mashego commented that he is not happy about this year’s results, but hopes to achieve more in 2015.

Mammelong Comprehensive School
The school achieved a 61,7 % pass rate compared to a previous 90.43%.
However, the school obtained 20 bachelors, 69 diplomas, 53 National Higher Certificates and 26 distinctions.
There were 88 of the 230 students who failed.
Principal Molefe Mokgadi said he is disappointed with the results.
“We had a huge number that we dropped by, however, the school will strive to produce the best results next time,” he said.

Reshegofaditshwe Secondary School
They received a pass rate of 76.6% with 48 diplomas, 38 bachelors, 11 higher certificates and a total of 22 distinctions.
Twenty-nine of thei 124 matriculants failed their exam.
Deputy principal Rinkie Nchabelang says they are satisfied with the results and, despite the new system, they managed to produce good results.

Buhlebemfundo Secondary School
The school showed a decline from the 84.4% pass rate it received in 2013 to 73% in 2014.
The number of bachelors that the school got is 70 as well as 95 diplomas and 26 higher certificates.
The school had 191 students who wrote the exams and 71 failed.

Duduza Schools

Esibonelwesihle Secondary School
The school received a pass rate of 73% with 18 distinctions and 46 bachelors.
Out of 166 students who wrote the matric examination, 121 passed while 43 failed and five remain incomplete.
Principal Kamohelo Motloung says the results are good but not according to her target due to challenges they have faced.

M.O.M Seboni Secondary school
The school attained a pass rate of 69.89%.
196 students wrote the exam and 56 did not pass.
There were 49 degrees, 57 diplomas and 24 certificates obtained by the learners.
Deputy Principal Jacob Matekane says the results have decreased yet the quality has improved because the school has achieved more distinctions.

NN Ndebele Secondary School
They managed to get a pass rate of 66.87% which is a huge decrease compared to the 85.22% they had previously received.The school got 28 bachelors, 56 diplomas, 21 higher certificates and six distinctions.
Principal Zanele Mlambo says the school worked very hard considering the new system.

Thandi Sibeko Secondary School
This school obtained a 67% pass rate.
The students who wrote the exams were 103 and 69 of them passed.

Asser Maloka Secondary School
The school got 82.6% with 95 of their 115 students passing.
