According to an eye witness of the tragic incident she heard loud screams outside her house then went out to see what was happening.
She says when she went to the scene the women was being electrocuted by the illegal connection while it was flooding during the rain.
She says two men then tried to help her with long wooden sticks yet the voltage was too high and the it was still flooding before the rain stopped.
Councillor Johannes Bosakwe says this is a tragic incident which could have been prevented.
He says there is no electricity at the Marikana Section so residents pulled the connection from Barwa Street illegally.
According to Bosakwe red ants have removed the connection in the past yet residents keep connecting illegally.
He says he reported the matter to the MMC of Water and Energy, Aubrey Nxumalo yet solutions were delayed to resolve the matter.
Sibusiso Masilela says he feels very bad because he has lost a mother because of these illegal connections.
According to Masilela the cables were removed last year march yet the community still re- connected.
