Exposed cable is dangerous
Residents of KwaThema at Riverside have a complaint about an exposed cable on Mohlabe Street.
Resident Noxolo Mahlangu says the cable has been exposed since January last year.
She says the matter has been reported to the officials yet nothing has been done about it.
Mandla Madonsela, a resident from the community, says he is worried about the children who play near the exposed cable.
Councillor George Vilakazi says the previous contractor was supposed to upgrade the electricity box yet has delayed.
He says the cable is a temporary dilemma which will be solved soon.
Themba Gadebe, spokesperson of the Ekurhuleni metro says, the city’s energy department assures residents that the current temporary power supply is safe regardless of the challenges around its connections.
According to Gadebe the power cable is expected to be permanently repaired by Monday.
