This came about after three weeks of investigation.

Three men described by the police as “crime kingpins” were arrested yesterday (November 19).

Brigadier Thembeka Gwebushe, Springs Police Station commander, says detectives have been working hard to solve this case.

One of the hijackers allegedly raped a Dunnottar teacher.

Captain Ramphora, spokesman for the Springs police, says the three hijacked a green Ford Fiesta in Daveyton about two months ago.

They used the vehicle to follow a teacher to Dunnottar after she dropped her friend at Bahamas in KwaThema two weeks ago.

Ramphora says the hijackers pushed her blue VW Golf off the road.

He says he 23-year-old master brain of this gang, ordered the woman into the passenger seat and got into the driver’s side.

He drove to Tsakane with his accomplices following him in the Fiesta.

When they reached Extension 11, both cars stopped and the gang leader ordered the woman out of the car and allegedly raped her twice.

The hijacker and alleged rapist got back into the cars and drove off, leaving the woman stranded.

According to Ramphora the alleged rapist is out on parole for an armed robbery in 2007.

One of his accomplices is wanted for several other hijacking cases.

A pistol and revolver with 12 rounds of ammunition and the teacher’s cellphone were seized.

The three of them will appear in court soon.
