New Datsun hatchback introduced
The nationwide launch of the new Datsun hatchback took place on Monday.
The three vehicles on display at the launch most definitely have a modern look with a more adventurous exterior design.
At R110 000 the price is also affordable.
The name Datsun Go was inspired by the very first Datsun of more than 100 years ago, the Dat-Go.
The hatchback is stylish and the interior is modern and gives a funky look.
The cabin length promises to give driver and passenger a comfortable ride with enough knee space to stretch out.
With its ergonomic handles, it makes the Go an innovation at many levels.
Its spacious 265L boot space is enough to accommodate enough luggage.
The front seat is connected, designed and unique and proves to be elegant and stylish.
The seats are conceived to meet the body’s neutral posture and will keep driver and passengers relaxed and alert.
It adapts to the natural curve of the spine when sitting, and individually supports the pelvis and chest.
The mobile docking system is designed to assist in the modern trend of connecting to modern smart-phones.
There is no glove box on the dashboard, but it offers ample storage space in the passenger seat and the holder in the door trim can contain bottles, sunglasses and more.
Although Datsun has faced some cost-cutting measures, the 360° air vents for the air conditioner allow better control for airflow and air direction.
The five-door hatchback is powered by a 1.2-litre, a five-speed manual gearbox and has an excellent fuel consumption of only 5.2 litres/100km.
Ross Henderson, Nissan’s dealer principal, says the Datsun Go has a conveniently small turning radius and the accelerator pedal is controlled electronically and not with a cable.
It has a 35-litre petrol tank and acceleration for 0-100km/h is reached within 13.3 seconds.
The Go is available in sky, silver, gray, ruby and white.
