Youths rid themselves of drugs

In an attempt to fight the scourge of drugs, the Tsakane Youth Development Programme (TYDP) had 80 nyaope addicts admitted for detoxification, on last Saturday.

The newly established programme took the addicts to the Westview Clinic in Florida, where they were admitted for treatment to have the toxic substances cleared from their bodies.

According to the programme’s chairman, Pule Moloi, the addicts took a decision to change their lives and all voluntarily agreed to the detoxification process.

“These young people accepted that they have a problem and need help; they vowed to ensure that change in their lives starts with them,” said Moloi.

He thanks Luvuyo Solomon, of the Brakpan Bus Company for providing transport for all the youths to Florida.

“Drug abuse is a fight for everyone,” said Moloi.

He said he wished that all the other drug addicts would come forward and ask for assistance.
