Water supply is restored to the area

The water reservoirs feeding this part of Kwatsaduza were replenished to a safe level, where the people of Tsakane will not run out soon.

The water supply is restored in Tsakane.

Themba Gadebe, spokesman of Ekurhuleni Metro says the water reservoirs feeding this part of Kwatsaduza were replenished to a safe level, where the people of Tsakane will not run out soon, on Monday.

The water supply problem in Ekurhuleni started on September 13 in Benoni and within a week had also affected Tsakane.

Gadebe says Tsakane was never totally without water.

The metro had to switch off the water supply from 10am to noon and between 9pm to 5am to ensure that the reservoirs would have enough water.

He says the water supply had regressed from being totally restored to almost no water on Monday morning.

The eastern parts of Tsakane were again affected after the levels in the water reservoirs fell to very low.

The metro then dispatched five water tankers to the affected areas.

Gadebe says the reasons for the water situation in Tsakane are the high demand for water, as well as not enough water being supplied from Rand Water.

He requested that residents continue to use water sparingly by refraining from all forms of irrigation or washing of vehicles using hose pipes.

“We will continue to monitor the situation until the last house has water fully restored,” says Gadebe.
