It is time to recycle old electronics

The Rotary Club of Springs Park is starting an electronic waste service for the residents of Springs.

Ueli Hiller, who is heading the project explains that electronic waste includes computers, monitors, laptops, server units, printers, mobile phones, tablets, TVs, cabling and networking equipment.

These electronics contain materials harmful to the environment as well as humans and it is important that electronic waste is correctly recycled.

He says in spite of the detrimental environmental influences of old and unused electronic equipment when dumped, these can be sold and used again

During recycling all items are stripped and separated into basic raw materials like steel, plastic, aluminium and copper that can be used again in other forms.

Hiller requests residents to drop off their unwanted electronic items at German TV in Second Street or Rocky’s Radio in Sixth Avenue or K&H Electronics in Nigel Road.

The items they receive will be recycled in the correct way and will not influence and pollute the environment.
