ANC cleans centre

Members of the ANC in KwaThema celebrated Casual Day by helping the disabled.

The day was organised by the deputy chief whip in the provincial legislature, Thoko Magagula.

The members of the party from different wards in KwaThema, spent the day cleaning, painting and planting vegetables at Vukuzenzele Association for the Physically Challenged in KwaThema.

Speaking about the organisation, Public Relations Officer Dolly Motaung said the organisation, that has 28 members, was established in 1987 and officially registered in 1999.

She said the organisation was formed to help provide disabled people with information and to empower them with necessary skills that they need to be able to provide for their families.

At the centre the members are taught to do bead work, knitting and other handwork.

Motaung thanked the ANC for celebrating Casual Day with them.

“They showed that they love and care for the disabled people in KwaThema,” said Motaung.

Thami Gazo ANC’s deputy secretary in ward 78, said the day was also about helping the disabled people.

“We cannot allow our disabled people to work hard at the centre while we sit at home and do nothing,” said Gazo.

Adding that the ANC wants to assure the people living with disabilities that the party will always be there to provide them with the support that they need.

“They are our families, we love them and promise to help them in any way that we can,” Gazo concluded.
