Two Bakerton businesses robbed

Two business robberies took place in Bakerton during last weekend.

At 6.50am, the owner of a shop was helping clients while his brother stood at the door.

Three armed men entered.

Two robbers assaulted the man at the door who then fell to the ground.

One robber took the cash from the till drawer as well as cigarettes and all the robbers ran away.

Another shop in Bakerton was robbed at 7pm, on Saturday.

A tuck shop owner was standing at the door while his brother served customers at the counter.

Captain Johannes Ramphora, spokesman for the Springs police, says three men entered the shop.

One of the men pointed a firearm at him, threatening to shoot him.

The other two robbers pulled out their firearms and ordered the owner to hand over cash, cigarettes and airtime.

The three robbers ran away.

No shots were fired in the above cases.

The police are investigating the possibility of the same robbers targeting both shops.
