Fani, the film maker

Fani Mathibela from KwaThema in Geduld section is a born and self-made entertainer.

Fani (32) did his primary education at Qedusizi Primary School in KwaThema before going to Eureka, Zimisele and Laban Mothlabi Secondary Schools.

After high school he went to Thuthuka School of drama in 2007 and it was in 2010 when he started to produce short films.

He says he noticed his love for music and drama at the age of 15.

Fani is a kwaito music artist, a film maker and an actor.

Before appearing on our TV screens every Wednesday in a drama called the Loxion Lyric that also featured David Mabena, Nkosana Samane, and Mandla ‘Ignition’ Sogcwayi, the talented actors from KwaThema , Fani produced many short films.

Seven episodes of Loxion Lyric were written by Fani and since the drama, he never stopped to chase his dream of making it in the entertainment industry.

He has written another short film called Impitshi yegazi which means the best friend.

The one hour long film is aimed at educating the youth about the dangers of peer pressure and getting involved in romantic relationships at an early age.

“The film is ready to be viewed and I am proud of the work that I, and the team including the actors, have put together,” said Fani.

He encouraged the youth in Kwatsaduza to dream about what they want to achieve in life.

“Every success starts with a dream and then working towards achieving the set goal,” he said.

Fani said he is dedicating his time in keeping the entertainment industry alive.

He said in December another short film, that he is busy with at the moment, will come out.
