Shaun is getting ready for the corporate world

Shaun Lerato Nkosi (21) joined the Phakama Women's Academy to ensure that she gets the skills needed in the corporate world.

She was born in KwaThema’s Nyanyadu section where she spends her free time with family including her daughter Goapele and little brother Olwethu (10).

Shaun went to Pinegrove Primary School and when she was seven her father died.

She did her secondary education at Springs Girls’ High School where she completed Grade 12 in 2011.

Shaun says growing up, she dreamt of pursuing a career in film production, however she changed her mind after she was advised to consider other options such as branding, a career that she is pursuing now.

Shaun is now studying for a Diploma in Integrated Brand Communications at the School of Brand Leadership.

To ensure that she is ready to join the corporate world, Shaun’s first step was to join the Phakama Women’s Academy, an academy aimed at empowering young women with the skills needed in the corporate world.

“I joined the academy so that I can also teach other young women the skills that will help them create employment for themselves,” says Shaun, adding that in the next five years, she sees herself as a qualified brand communications specialist in the corporate field.

Talking about where she gets her inspiration, Shaun says she is inspired by the independent women who worked hard for their success.

Speaking about her life after the death of her father, Shaun says the loss is one of the hardest experiences that she has come across in life, however, she will always be grateful for the support that she gets from her family.

“My family has been the pillar of my strength for my entire life and I never felt alone but spoilt especially by my four grandparents and mother,” she says.

Shaun encouraged the youth to chase their dreams, invest their time in education and avoid bad influences that will take away their focus from achieving their goals.
