Woman escapes from hijackers

A woman managed to escape when a car that she was travelling in was hijacked by three suspects.

The woman was one of two passengers who were travelling in a Nissan bakkie on Saturday around 9.45pm at Zenzele area in Endicott.

Captain Johannes Ramphora of the Springs police says the driver of the car was stopped by three armed suspects who were also driving a Nissan bakkie.

The suspects opened fire at the driver, injuring him in the back while the other passenger was shot in the leg.

“The woman managed to escape from the scene and the victims were taken to the Far East Rand Hospital for treatment,” says Ramphora. The suspects also used the victim’s car to get away from the scene.

Springs police opened a case of hijacking and attempted murder.

Anyone who witnessed this crime is urged to come forward with more information.
