Police warn about furniture delivery trucks hijacking

KwaThema police warn people who buy furniture to always ensure that they give the correct address of where the furniture is to be delivered.

Captain Mandla Phori of the KwaThema police says a minimum of two furniture shop delivery trucks get hijacked in the township each day.

He says in most cases, the hijackings are the result of the drivers not being familiar with the area and ask for directions from the people they see on the street.

“The people who buy furniture should ensure that they are with the driver when their furniture gets delivered to their home,” says Phori.

He advised that the driver and the customer should arrange to meet in a safe place, such as a police station, and drive together to the customer’s house.
