Carjacking on the rise in Tsakane

Tsakane police say the car jacking in on the rise in that area.

Tsakane police spokesman Captain Petros Mabuza says carjacking has increased in Tsakane.

He says over the weekend, four cars were hijacked in Tsakane, however, two of them were later recovered.

Mabuza gives the tips to the drivers to avoid car hijacking.

Tips to avoid hijacking

  • Before driving in or out of the yard or garage, look for any suspicious people on the street and if concerned, contact the police.
  •  Never sit inside the car when parked on the pavement especially during the night.
  •  If you notice that you are being followed, drive to the nearest police station or petrol station and seek help.
  •  Ask someone at home to open the gate or garage for you prior your arrival.
  •  Avoid using the same route every day on your way to and from work.
