Miss Tsakane goes national

Mmathabo Mokoena (18) from Tsakane is busy preparing herself for the Miss Teen Commonwealth South Africa.

She currently holds the Miss Tsakane title, together with other titles she won since she started competing in high school in 2012.

“After winning first princess in Miss Ekurhuleni East last year, my manager at the time advised me to enter bigger pageants and told me about the Commonwealth competition.

Mmathabo and 23 other teenage girls from around South Africa will battle it out at the Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City on August 29.

Among the list of prizes for the winner, is an opportunity to represent South Africa in the Miss Teen Commonwealth International, taking place in the United Kingdom later this year.

Mmathabo is also a first year B Com Law student at Midrand Graduate Institute, proving she is a beauty with brains, qualities she will be judged on during the contest.

She has to come up with an idea to raise funds for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, as well as market herself on social media.

At the time of the interview, Mmathabo had the second highest number of votes, and she pleads with the community to continue voting.
