Church celebrates Youth Day

The church members wore full school uniform to celebrate the Youth Day

Members of the Glory of Christ Ministries in Payneville celebrated Youth Day on Sunday.

Young and old members of the church were wearing full school uniform to celebrate the day. Bishop Anthony Mrubatha said despite being Christians, they are also members of the society.

He said because in his church there are also young people, it is the church’s responsibility to ensure that the youth in church understand the meaning and celebrate the day.

Mrubatha further encouraged the young people to celebrate the day through the word of God.

“Youth Day is meant to remember the role played by the youth of 1976 during the struggle and not an excuse to get drunk,” said Mrubatha, adding that young people should always focus on finding ways to change the country for the best.

Speaking about her understanding about Youth Day, Phumelele Dlamini from Everest said it is the day to celebrate the patriotic action taken by the young people in 1976.

She said today she is free to study the language of her choice in school because of the fight fought by the determined and focused youth during the days of apartheid.

“The youth of today needs to work towards building a better continent that will be of benefit to all the African people,” Phumelele challenged the youth.
