Farewell Mr Jugath

Mr Jugath keeps himself busy by studying law

Pravin Jugath has called it a day on June 2011, after being in the teaching profession for almost 36 years.

He says he likes being on pension, but likes to keep his mind busy by studying law at Unisa.

With a family of teachers it is no wonder that he followed the road to teaching.

He has taught at numerous primary schools, has been a head of department, acting principal at Eltivillas Primary School in Louis Trichardt, acting deputy principal at Pioneer Primary School, deputy principal at Springs Secondary School, and served as principal at Actonville Training College before he was appointed as principal of Eureka High School in May 1998.

He has always been involved with the community and served on many committees and is currently an active member of the Bakerton Community Police Forum.

Although mathematics was one of his teaching subjects, his forte is English.

He believes discipline is the key to success and this has always been his philosophy towards education since he started his career as a teacher in 1975.

Pravin is known for being master of ceremonies at various functions.

He was born and raised in KwaZulu-Natal, but completed his studies in Gauteng.

His wife Guthri Jugath, is still teaching and Pravin says, when she retires, they will do some travelling.

“I always wanted to visit India,” he says.

He was quite active when he was younger and played squash with his wife when he was a teacher in Balfour, but also enjoyed being active in badminton, tennis and martial arts.

Martial arts is all about discipline and Pravin believes it contributed to his discipline philosophy.

Believe it or not, he enjoys listening to the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and Indian classics, but cannot stand the modern music.

He values his family and is grateful for the support of Guthri, his two daughters, son-in-law and his two grandchildren, throughout the years.

The principal and staff of Eureka High School will say goodbye to him on June 27 at a function.
