Celebrations of election results started early for members of ANC in KwaThema.
They held a motorcade on Friday, when the counting was just above the 90% mark.
Zwelibanzi Yende, coordinator of the ANC zonal election team said, “Retaining control of eight provinces and national leadership is our reason for celebrating.”
The group started their drive from the KwaThema CCC and made its way through to White City, Vergenoeg, Rest In Peace, Extension Two and Three, Interland, Highland, Tornado, Phomolo, Deep Level and ended in Masimini section.
The convoy drove in a formation of a long string of hooting cars.
Many residents met them with clenched fists in the air, representing unity and solidarity.
“We just want to thank people because this achievement is due to them continuing to have confidence in the ruling party,” Zwelibanzi added.
He concluded by saying, “The right to vote didn’t come cheap in our country, we really appreciate the efforts of everyone who participated, irrespective of the organisations they voted for.”
