‘Fashion is my life’

Nonhlanhla Mogale (31) says she believes that she was born for fashion

The Langaville born fashion designer obtained her National Diploma in Clothing Production at the Springs College in 2002.

She is a daughter and a mother to her six year-old son who, she says, is the one person that inspires her every day.

After tertiary education, Nonhlanhla worked for many different clothing companies including the Free Hand Clothing where she worked as a supervisor.

She then joined the Youth Connexion Clothings in KwaThema before joining the P-Grims Fashions situated at The Venue in KwaThema.

Nonhlanhla explains her strongest point in fashion is when it comes to cutting the patterns and that she also specialises in fabrics.

Trying to gather as much experience as she can, Nonhlanhla travelled the world to learn more about different cultures. She has been to countries such as Zimbabwe, Thailand and China.

Talking about her life out of fashion, Nonhlanhla says when she is not thinking about new designs, she spends time with her son and family.

“My son and family are all I have and I like enjoying quality time with them to get inspiration and energy to go to work the next day,” Nonhlanhla says.

In five years to come Nonhlanhla wants to see herself being one the successful designers in this country. “I will say that I am successful when I have signed a contract with some of the clothing stores to sell my clothing range,” she says.

To fulfill her dream, Nonhlanhla and her colleagues have opened Mpompolo and Makhumalo Clothing which specialises in women and men’s ranges. If you want to see their designs, visit them on their Mpompolo and Makhumalo Clothing facebook page.
