According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora the victim became friends with a 39-year-old suspect on WhatsApp.
He says the victim explained that their friendship started on WhatsApp despite the fact that they had never met before.
He says the victim continued to say that the suspect asked to meet with her at one of the streets in Slovo.
He says the victim told the police that on her arrival at the place of their appointment on Saturday, the suspect called his friend to come with them to his house.
“The victim said that the suspect’s friend left the two of them inside the house and the suspect raped her, however, she managed to escape and called the police,” says Ramphora.
The suspect was later arrested at his house and a case of rape was opened against him.
