Captain Johannes Ramphora of the Springs police says the exchange of gun shots between a group of illegal miners and the police ended with no one getting injured.
He says the police rushed to the scene after they received a call informing them of the shooting between the Grootvlei security guards and the alleged illegal miners.
He says when the police arrived on the scene, the alleged illegal miners turned their rain of bullets towards them before they ran away from the scene.
Ramphora says no injuries were reported and the police are still looking for the suspects.
