New station commander in Duduza

Lieutenant Colonel Louise Droskie (35) joined the Duduza police station on March 1 as the new station commander .

Droskie who resides in Nigel is a wife and a mother to two children.

She joined the South African Police in 1998 and started her career as a police at the Nigel police station then joined the highway patrollers in Brakpan before going to Germiston and Katlehong where she served for six years.

She also worked in the crime intelligent unit and in the management information centre in Dunnottar police station before joining the management information centre in KwaThema police station.

“Before I was appointed as the Duduza station commander, I was working at the Springs Cluster Office,” says Droskie.

With 16 years of experience in the police department, Droskie is confident that with the help from the community she will fight and win a battle against crime in that township.

She says, only one month after she became part of the Duduza family, she has already noticed the high number of assault, domestic violence and house break-in cases reported to the police.

She says the challenges that the police experience in their daily duties is criticism from the community members.

“I love and accept criticism as a way to learn and improve in our work, however the communities also need to appreciate the good work done by the police,” says Droskie.

She believes that fighting crime needs both the police and the community’s cooperation.

Droskie says it is the parents’ responsibility to educate their children about crime, while also setting a good example to them by avoiding being involved in criminal activities.

She promised Duduza residents that the police will continue working hard to ensure that those who break the law are caught and put where they belong.

She then appeals to the community to always call the police when they witness criminal activities.

She concluded by saying that to her, working as a police official means taking responsibility to ensure the community’s safety and always protecting them.
