Development brought frustrations to other residents

While other residents at Enkanini section D in KwaThema Extension three enjoy the service delivery, Riba family does not sing the same song.

They were happy when they received their title deed years ago, hoping that all was going to be well but instead their happiness turned into a nightmare.

According to Sydney Riba, his family’s problem started a few months ago when one of the ‘ward committee members’ instructed them to demolish the toilet that was built during the construction of the flashing toilets in that area as part of bringing services to the residents.

He says, Eric Menzi Mgqineni who call himself one of the members of the ward committee told them that their toilet is being built on someone else’s’ land.

“He said our toilet is being built outside our yard for that reason we need to demolish it and have it built inside our yard to allow for a small passage between our shack and that of our neighbour,” said frustrated Riba.

Adding that, that has blocked them from getting other government services that other residents have already received such as the water meters.

Mduduzi Sibiya is also one of the frustrated residents in that area. He says he has been a resident in that area for more than five years.

Sibiya says his frustration began when he came back from visiting his family in the KZN when he found that his stand no 26521 that he says has a title deed for was being occupied by someone else.

Ward councillor Wilson Busakwe said Eric is not a member of the ward committee and that he does not understand if where he gets the power to instruct and demand residents on what to do as far as the development of the area is concerned.

The African Reporter’s attempt to reach Eric Menzi Mgqineni were not successful.
