Have your say on the Ekurhuleni budget

Any one is allowed to comment

It is time to speak out to shape your community’s future.

This is the request of Ekurhuleni Metro.

As a result of the state of the city address where mayor Mondli Gungubele spoke on the strategic direction of Ekurhuleni, the metro invited its residents to tell the metro what they want.

Springs and Tsakane were some of the first towns visited by metro officials. Springs had its visit on Tuesday and Tsakane on Wednesday. Even if you missed these meetings, you still have a chance to give your input.

Next week KwaThema on April 15 and Duduza April 16 will get their turn to hear what the metro plans for their areas.

These meetings were called to discuss the metro’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and budget.

Amongst issues expected to top the agenda are the proposed new tariffs, the new valuation roll, credit control and indigent policies. The metro also seeks budget proposals related to capital projects across the metro.

The KwaThema meeting is in the KwaThema Civic Hall and the Duduza one at the Duduza Mult-purpose Centre.

All meetings will start at 6pm.

Residents and stakeholders that cannot be at these meetings may still give their input on the IDP and budget until April 30. These documents may be viewed on www.ekurhuleni.gov.za or during office hours at Springs Library and Springs municipal offices.

Comments can be dropped into budget tips boxes at the library or e-mailed to budgettips@ekurhuleni.gov.za

Call the IDP office on 011 999 6760/1/2/3 for more information.
