Arrested for fraud

A man (56) arrested for fraud appeared in the Springs Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora the suspect was arrested in January for fraud.

He says according to the information that the police have, the suspect was arrested after robbing one of his victims of R500 and promising to find her a job.

“He then robbed another victim of R1 200, also promising to find her a job at Impala Platinum here in Springs,” says Ramphora.

Ramphora says in court it was found that the suspect has a previous conviction for fraud and was sentenced to three years in prison.

The case was postponed until March 13.

The police appeal to anyone who has been a victim of such a crime to visit room 25 at the Springs Police Station or contact the detectives’ office on 011 365 5708.
