Warm winter for beneficiaries of Nokuphila

Teddy's donation will bring comfort to and warmth to many children from KwaThema.

Nokuphila Community Services in Selection Park is the recipient of a generous donation, made by the Teddy Bear Foundation on Tuesday.

The 29 blankets and seven big plastic bags containing school bags, pens, clothes, and shoes, will be divided amongst some of the 300 orphaned and vulnerable children from KwaThema aged seven to 18 years who are beneficiaries of Nokuphila.

Teddy Mnguni (25) from Rest In Peace KwaThema, founded the Teddy Bear Foundation in 2012 as an NPO.

She says the organisation is not named after her, but rather after a Teddy bear which brings comfort, because that is the organisation’s aim.

Donating to Nokuphila is the first big project that the six-member organisation has embarked on since its formation.

“The community donated everything we brought here today, we are still going to collect more stuff and hope the community will continue to respond positively,” adds Teddy.

Nokuphila’s manager Caroline Masike, said they draw their strength from organisations like the Teddy Bear Foundation.

“We pledge, without doubt, that Nokuphila will continue to make a contribution to the community without compromising service delivery,” Caroline said.
