Strike affects Springs

An unprotected strike has an impact on some of the South African Post Office operations.

The SA Post Office confirms that some employees in the mail sorting centres are currently engaged in an unprotected strike which began January 27.

“All Springs post will go to Witpos,” says spokesman Johan Kruger.

“Management is urgently working towards resolving the strike, which is impacting operations in some parts of the country,” says Kruger.

Early indications are that some operations, including mail and retail are being disrupted by the work stoppages.

He adds the SA Post Office apologises to customers for any inconvenience that may be caused by this situation and also provide assurance that the SA Post Office management is working towards normalising the situation as soon as possible.

The SA Post Office advises that the principle of no work, no pay will apply.

The organisation will also deal with any incidents of intimidation accordingly.

The SA Post Office has issued an ultimatum to workers to return to work.
