Khombindlela in Tsakane gets new library

Khombindlela Primary School is the lucky winner of a library courtesy of Sunbake’s Competition Super School Challenge 2018.

Tsakane – Learners from schools all over South Africa rose to the challenge and collected almost two million bread bags.

“We are so proud that our children managed to work together so well and won this challenge.

“To be one of the schools receiving a container library means they’ve learned a valuable lesson in collaboration and with this library we hope to continue that spirit of togetherness and these valuable life lessons,” notes principal Khomisani Mashaba.

The aim of the Sunbake Super School’s Challenge was to uplift South African communities through co-operation and outreach.

Khombindlela Primary is one of the three top performers who won the library container giveaway.

From January 29 to March 28, 2018, learners in Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West were challenged to collect bread bags.

Each week these bags were collected and spot prizes including PEP vouchers, cool backpacks and umbrellas were handed out.

“We know that you can’t teach a hungry child and we aim to enrich learners with the sustenance they need to be productive in the classroom.”

The challenge will also see the top five collecting schools in each region receive R5 000.
