Family of the late Thembisile Yende visit substation

Family of slain Thembisile Yende called for the Pieterboth Substation to be renamed as the Thembisile Yende Substation during their visit to the station.

KwaThema – They were commemorating a year after her body was found in her office last year 13 days after she was reported missing to the police.

Family spokesperson, Mbonani Yende, says the foundation is aimed at empowering and affording learners from poverty-stricken backgrounds with all their educational needs.

“Thembisile was active in the community and we want to carry her legacy forward by identifying learners who we will donate whatever they need to be in school.

“We don’t want the learners to feel inferior or bank school because they don’t have school uniform or shoes.

“We want to fight gender-based violence and inequality in class and the workplace because Thembisile died trying to fight this scourge,” he says.
