Community safety reason for visit by MEC

Ekurhuleni MEC Sizakele Nkosi and other metro officials donated toys, blankets and mattresses to a crèche in KwaThema.

KwaThema – The MEC of Community Safety in Ekurhuleni, Sizakele Nkosi Malubane, paid a visit to a crèche.

The Department of Community Safety together with KwaThema SAPS members and social crime prevention coordinators visited Charisma Day Care Centre on Morudi Street on January 29.

The officials donated blankets, toys and mattresses, as well as educate the children on safety.

“The purpose of the visit was to make kids know that police are there to protect them.

For instance, when there is an incident whereby the victim is a child, then the child can to open up to the police,” explains Captain Thabo Sibuyi.

MEC Nkosi Malubane encouraged the owner of the crèche to work together with the police to ensure the safety of the children and the community at large.

The KwaThema station commander, Colonel Mareketle Malapane, further stated that the initiative will enhance the relationship between the community and police.
