Man killed on his way to work in front of his father

A young man died after being stabbed in the neck while on his way to work.

Thomas Singano (24) died after being stabbed in the neck by an unknown suspect on January 1, around 5.20am.

The victim was on his way to work with his father Wesley when they were approached by four men.

The unknown men asked Thomas and his father for R10.

Wesley then reached for his wallet, with the intention of giving the men what they were asking for.

One of the men then stabbed Thomas once on the left side of his neck.

The victim and his father then ran away from the scene and the suspects ran in the opposite direction.

Thomas entered a yard on Monyane Street in Masimini where he fell.

He was declared dead by paramedics at the scene.

A thirty-year-old suspect has been arrested after he was apprehended by members of the public on the same day.

Captain Thabo Sibuyi wishes to thank the community for their response in assisting the police to apprehend the suspect and providing more information to the ongoing investigation.

The suspect has appeared at the Springs Magistrate’s Court.

The case has been postponed for further investigation.
