Former boxing champion Silence Mabuza wants to recharge the boxing culture in Kwatsaduza.

“This is the reason why I wanted to be part of the resurrection of the sport in the area.”

Silence Mabuza is a former professional boxer in the bantamweight division and is a former two-time holder of the International Boxing Organisation’s world bantamweight title.

“I and the likes of Simon Tsipa Skhosana did our bit, but now these young boys must take us forward.”

Mabuza established Mabuza Boxing Academy in 2016 and he says he is impressed with the talent he found thus far.

“I am pleasantly surprised.

We have fourteen graded amateur fighters to date,” he adds.

Mabuza believes that participation in sport will also help decrease the prevalence of risky behaviour, especially nyoape addiction among the youth.

“I would really like to extend an invitation to everyone who is interested, even females.

“I am willing to train them.”

Tumelo Matsane and Mpumi Maisela from the academy will take part in the Dida Promotion, IN Kagiso this Saturday.

Mabuza expresses his gratitude to BJ of Tsakane Medicare Pharmacy for his continued support by making sure they always have a facility to train in.
