Police, CPF achievers honoured

Tsakane SAPS members took the most awards during the ceremony.

SAPS and CPF members did well during the annual SAPS Provincial Prestige Excellence Awards ceremony, which was held in the Thabong Wedding and Conference Centre in Brakpan on Friday.

Various members were rewarded for their outstanding service in several categories.

Police support service and administrative staff were also recognised for going the extra mile in the fight against crime.

Ekurhuleni East Cluster chairman Lucas Mbokazi is proud of the cluster’s achievements.

“The partnership between the CPFs and the police means a lot, and we need to work hand in hand to fight crime,” Mokazi says, adding: “If you work hard, you are rewarded.”

The prestigious event saw Tsakane Police Station commander Col Johan Maas receive the award for the best station commander of the year.

Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu received the award for the best communication member of the year.

Among the other Tsakane members who received awards are:

Cecilia Zungu won the best general worker of the year award, while best social crime prevention member of the year went to Sgt Lebogang Ramaesa.

The best serving reservist of the year award was won by R/Cst Malope Mashianoke, with R/Sgt Victoria Manala taking second runner-up in the category.

KwaThema Police Station member Const Joshua Ngobeni received a certificate for second runner-up for the best visible policing (Vispol) member of the year.

Const Hluphisani Khoza received the award for the best crime information analysis (Cimac) member of the year.

Tsakane CPF chairman Sonto Mlothswa received one of eight awards given to CPFs within the cluster.

Duduza CPF chairman Jabulile Mahlangu also received a CPF award.

SAPS Gauteng provincial commissioner, Lt Gen Deliwe de Lange encouraged members to stand together against crime.

“I am extremely proud of the Ekurhuleni Cluster and how its members stay focused in their fight against crime,” de Lange says.

“Gauteng will not tolerate crime.”

She urged all members to be motivated and work hard so they can also win awards for outstanding work done.

“Continue to work hard and we will bear the fruit.”
