Gospel artist Obrey M is ready to release first album

After winning the award for Best Gospel Artist at the Ingoma Awards earlier this year, popular Obrey M is ready to make his next move.

Daveyton – After winning the award for Best Gospel Artist at the Ingoma Awards earlier this year, popular Obrey M is ready to make his next move.

Born in Zithobeni, Mpumalanga, Obrey always knew he had something special.

He says his love for God and gospel music started at the tender age of eight, when he used to sing for various youth choirs in and around the Ekurhuleni area.

“In the year 2002, I joined one of the successful and leading ministries in South Africa, the Oasis of Life Family Church.

“That is when I fully understood my purpose and calling.”

He has been serving in the music ministry department.

He says he is privileged to serve as a musical director within the church.

As his career advanced, he shared the stage with international artists, such as Bishop Marvin Winans, Smokie Norful, All 4 One and Donnie McClurkin.

“Locally I have been fortunate enough to perform with Hugh Masekela, Tshepo Tshola, Pastor Solly Mahlangu and Tshepiso Motaung.

“The list is long.”

This year he has realised his childhood dream of recording a solo album.

Obrey M has released his debut album entitled Isimemezelo under his own record label, Thandiwe Music.

“This album is power packed with a profound message of hope and restoration found in Christ, our hope of glory.

“It is really aimed at all those who are hurting, broken-hearted and despised.”

The album’s launch will be held at Oasis of Life Family Church, Daveyton, on December 10.
