Exciting drama on stage soon

"We want to make theatre accessible to our community."

Tsakane – Twin Plugs Organisation is ready to put one of its best works on stage.

It is titled “The Broken Promise”.

“The story is about a pact made between three friends.

“One of them breaks it, unfortunately,” explains Ayanda Martin, one of the scriptwriters.

Ayanda started acting after he completed Grade 12 in 2013.

“When watching television, I would always think, ‘I could do better than this guy.’

“So when the opportunity came, I did not think twice.”

Ayanda has been working with friends Shane Sibanyoni, Derick Mathebula and Siboniso Sibuya to form Twin Plugs Organisation.

“We want to make theatre accessible to our community.

“At the same time, we want to groom young talent.”

The organisation also converts all its stage plays into movies.

Ayanda says the production helps the young people they work with to stay focused.

“It keeps them off the street.

“They come to rehearsal after school.

“This leaves them very little time to mess around.”

Derick believes they are producing the same quality of work as people have seen at big theatres.

“There is a lot of talent and passion ekasi.

“The effort that we all put in comes out in the work on stage.”

Twin Plugs Organisation has been able to put on two stage plays every year for the past few years.

“Our audience is growing.

“Even the venue we are using now is too small.”

“The Broken Promise” will be showing at Tsakane Old Age Hall on November 4 at 2pm.
